National Teaching Hospital Haiti

I wanted to give you an update on the Laticrete donation.  At this point, things on site have settled into a slow yet steady rhythm of work being put into place.  We have approximately 15% - 20% of the conc floor slabs installed and are ready to start tile installation in some areas.  Attached are a few pics (wish I had more) of some of our Haitian workers off-loading the Laticrete donation that arrived on site earlier this week.  (remember, Peter got the materials to us at the end of May = 8-10 weeks ago)  The other two pics are of the workers installing a small tile floor mock up for everyone's review and to confirm the install team knows how to properly install the tile.

On behalf of the National Teaching Hospital construction project team, I want to THANK YOU again for the generous donation of Laticrete products for the project.

I have copied Heidi Burgess from our team who can forward the most current blog and photo info on the project.

Thanks again!

Charlie

BTW love the 4-xlt

Laticrete 4-XLT is a multi-use, polymer fortified thinset & medium bed adhesive mortar built on the new Laticrete Water Dispersion Technology (WDT) platform. WDT provides for the complete dispersion of water within the mix allowing users to achieve the desired application consistency. Laticrete 4-XLT offers tremendous utility including non-sag wall installations, medium bed build up of up to 3/4" (19 mm) and thin-set applications of floors.

A few contractor comments regarding the Laticrete 4XLT:

" ... do anything from basic floors to custom showers, in mostly all residential work. Also always looking for ways to improve on installation methods at the same time as opening our own retail store. Current I am purchasing Laticrete product from A/O in Cranberry, PA. BTW love the 4-xlt,getting ready to order a pallet."

and

"A truly great thinset, both non sag and medium bed. I have made it our one stop thinset. Dust-lock makes a huge difference in the mixing process(for those of us that don't use masks). Laticrete, you've done it again."

and

"I loved working with this product! I used it to install a fireplace hearth, (granite slab), and to install 18x18 porcelain tile. It was extremely smooth and creamy. This is my "new" thinset of choice."

Mick & Ernie of Tuscan Leveling Systems visited Laticrete today.

We had an opportunity to chat about a wide range of issues.

Our focus was on the installation of large module tiles with the Tuscan Leveling System to reduce or eliminate lippage. And Medium bed adhesive mortars like Laticrete 4-XLT.

SeaShell Tiles

"Accent wall in the bathroom. The dry area. Had to work on top of newly installed ipe wood floors.

The tile is from Bedrosians. It is literally made from seashells. Left ungrouted.

Was going over drywall. Used 4 xlt so that I could go from the top down. Did not want to drop anything on the finish tile. Not going to be easy to clean.

I did like for glass mosaics, I flattened my notches, but went with a 1/4" notch, started with v but not enough transfer. The xlt just held the tile up there. "
