Works Of Art & Latapoxy 310

10' x 30' tile mural in the entryway to the new Bower School of Music and Recital Hall at Florida Gulf Coast University, Ft Myers, FL.
The mural is created from 75 separate two-foot-square porcelain tiles and is titled Water Symphony

"Hello Henry,

I must say 310 was a lifesaver.  As a first time user I was hoping for the support your adhesive and applicator seemed to promise.  Man, did it ever deliver as I had a vertical wall 10’ x 30’ out of plumb 1” in several areas.  I quickly learned to apply the correct amount of adhesive and successfully adhered 75 tiles without mishap.  Your no-sag was superior especially when I had to make the dabs of the Latapoxy 310 large to fill the voids.

My 75 porcelain 2’ x2’ decorated tiles called ”Water Symphony” are securely fastened to last a lifetime due in large part to the Latapoxy 310.

Thanks,

Lucas Century"

John King Art

"Here are some pictures from a job I am doing up on the ridge of a mountain. The house is partially buried in the earth. I am installing my handmade concrete tiles on some of the exterior walls. Some of these tiles are 1.5' x 8'. They are all 5/8ths thick. In the past I never poured them more than a few feet tall at that thin thickness but I just kept experimenting with the mixture and forms. The first thing I couldn't believe was getting them out of the forms without breaking them. Then I couldn't believe I got them loaded on the truck without breaking, then driving them ten miles over rutted roads with out breaking, then out of the truck, then finally installed without breaking them. (well most of them)
Thanks to Henry for the great information on Latapoxy 310. It is working really well. Easy to mix and apply etc."

The Doghouse

Message from Paul:

"Once a year our neighborhood has a home tour. This year the benefiting charity is a local dog shelter. The organizers asked local craftsmen to build a dog house to be put up for auction. Being an old school Italian tile man, I couldn't resist the offer to showcase my talents with glass tiles. The cement board shell was waterproofed with HydroBan. The roof "shingles" are 1/2" square iridescent glass set in Latapoxy 310 , which made the installation very easy. The shingles certainly are not going to fall off. The Tiffany glass tiles are set to mimic the Victorian style bungalows common in the Heights section of Houston.

This is the "ad" I wrote to describe the dog house for the auction:

House for sale, move to your lot. Truly a rare find. This custom built craftsman style classic Heights bungalow boasts an extra large covered front porch, vaulted ceilings, extra large master bedroom, solid bamboo flooring in an open floor plan. The exterior features Tiffany glass siding, hand painted double hung windows in the 3 color style with antiqued glass, which is all accented by the Bisazza glass tile roof.

The auction is April 9th. My competition is 5 architects. I am eager to see which dog house brings in the highest bid. I can have some of the professional pictures taken at the event sent to your blog. For now these are the ones I took on a neighbors lawn that looks far better than the weed patch at my house. To make sure everyone knows just who built the best dog house, I am planning on using the Latapoxy 310 to create a glass necktie to go with my suit."

"We used Latapoxy 310 epoxy in unison with stainless steel clips and pins - along with Latasil caulking - and Laticrete 254 at the base to bond the dry pack mud bed to the stone at the base and also at the back fill between the CMU and the stone."

Shelves In A Shower

"Plumbing fixtures are Danze, this shower is like 4 yrs old now, owner has had us back for 2 other projects, then asked about installing these shelves.

What I did was polish up the edges of some travertine, drilled approximately 1" deep hole with a small bit, the hole accepted an electro-galvanized roofing nail ( head cut off ), then I 310'd them into the travertine. Went to the job site and marked level lines, drilled holes for plastic anchors, and 310'd those in, then I 310'd the back sides of the shelves and inserted into the anchors holding them level while it cooked, and cleaned it while it cooked, cleaned it a bit more with just a razor blade and an alcohol rag, then sanded latex matching caulk to cover joints.

First set I've done like that, but in hind sight, I would like to have a better anchor / pin set. I just used what I had for times sake.

BTW, the pic shows my jar of 310 on the shelf, all of you that have it know how much that jar weighs, there really ain't much material used yet out of that jar."

Some Interesting Latapoxy 310 Work

It is amazing what contractors are accomplishing with Latapoxy 310.

From a tile & stone guy:

"All of the columns, railings and pedestals are with 310. The fireplace is the most amazing part of the job but it was covered up. The pedestals are 100 lbs each. The 4 big columns on the back of the house had a crated weight of 25000# that's over 3 ton a column."
